Toni-Lee's Story

Updated: Apr 19

Toni-Lee attributes her current existence to the transformative power of embracing her 'Best Self' in life. At 39, a diagnosis of Dermatomyositis and Lupus jolted Toni-Lee's reality. As a single mom juggling a demanding job and marathon training, her days were a relentless cycle of tasks, with little room for reflection.

Despite appearances, she felt powerless, masking heartbreak from a friend's suicide and the loneliness of single parenthood.

Unaware of her emotions, she buried herself in busyness, numbing the pain. This addiction led to a breakdown – her immune system attacked, leaving her reliant on mobility aids. A pivotal moment came when her son, tearfully expressing a desire for more time together, prompted a profound change.

Determined to be present, Toni-Lee sought professional help specializing in self-care. She uncovered the reasons behind her constant busyness: avoiding heartbreak, distracting from life's chaos, and battling loneliness through perpetual 'yes' responses.

Breaking free required Toni-Lee to acknowledge and own her feelings. Admitting to a broken heart, she learned to embrace discomfort and arrive simply with her emotions.

The journey of personal excellence involved ending tumultuous behaviors, taking control of her responses, and adopting self-regulation. Asking, 'What am I avoiding?' replaced the compulsion for busyness. Toni-Lee abandoned the drama triangle, taking full ownership of her life.

This process demanded courage, humility, and external support for accurate self-reflection. It led her to make a daring decision - leaving her corporate job to step into her true calling at Achology, The Academy of Modern Applied Psychology. Becoming actively involved in serving others globally, Toni-Lee mastered the art of modern applied psychology.

While managing an active disease and relying on medications, Toni-Lee is fueled by a resolute commitment to embody her 'Best Self.' Acknowledging the finite nature of time, she is intentional in choosing how and with whom she spends her precious moments on this earth. Her dedication to self-care is rooted in the desire to provide accurate self-reflection for other women. This motive drives Toni-Lee's commitment to exercise, consume raw foods, and assume responsibility as the adult in her life.

Choosing one's best self is a daring decision, a journey of self-discovery leading to a fulfilling life.
